You are right the new version of .uk went live on the 24th January 2022, in place of the former directory which had stood for two decades before. Steve thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Now the search comes up with only 3 teachers. If you searched in the old site for 'Brighton violin teacher' there would be around 12 pages of listings. As soon as I became aware of the new commission structure, I and 90% of the teachers left. As an existing teacher I was approached by the new owners and told of all the amazing benefits they were going to bring. The safeguarding requirements could have been met with the existing site with a few changes. Read about it by googling changes-to-musicteachers-co-uk Sad to say this but the Musicians Union has been selling musicians down the river for years. The original site was sold off by the organisation who are apparently supposed to be on the musicans side - The Musicians Union. In the mean spirited capitalistic ethos (ie no scruples) of an Uber or an AirBnB a disrupter came in solely to improve their own bank balances not to benefit the music teachers. The original music teachers site had its limitations but functioned OK and served thousands of music teachers nationally. I signed up to 4 or 5 new tutoring sites at the same time and they have all been left in the dust. I'd have no hesitation in recommending the musicteachers site to both teachers and students, and am very grateful for the experience so far. I still use Zoom and Cleanfeed for students I teach outside of musicteachers, but the integrated platform on the site is much more streamlined and frankly less hassle. The online classroom has been so helpful. I've had a lot of questions (!) which they all answer in a timely manner, and have gone above and beyond to assist where I or one of my students has had any technical difficulty. Pretty much from the day I reset my profile, the support team has been friendly, helpful, professional and consistent. I have gained 4 new students in less than a month, with 2 more on the cards. Fast forward to the beginning of this year when I decided to revamp my teaching profile and try again, and I have nothing but praise for the experience I've had under the new ownership. I signed up to musicteachers a couple of years ago, and never really had much out of it. That sentiment is especially apparent when, during a rousing rendition of break-out song French Press, Keaney, White and the Russo brothers form a circle around drummer Tussie, all the instruments interlocking perfectly, each band member seemingly aware of how their individual role contributes to the greater whole.Īnd that’s precisely what makes this band special: they’re clearly a group of close friends who intuitively know the sum of the band is greater than the individual parts, allowing them to take a well-worn genre of music and make it sound vital again through not just talent, but the sheer joy of playing together.Įven though indie rock may not currently be in vogue in, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever proves there’s plenty of life left in it yet thanks to impressively tight playing sparked by, presumably, an even tighter friendship.Brilliant service. But that would imply there’s a sense of competitiveness, when what comes across is a group of musicians who only lift each other up. On their best tracks, like Cars in Space, Mainland, Fountain of Good Fortune and epic closer Clean Slate, you get the sense the trio have played a game of “how can I make this even catchier?” one-upmanship.
